As a child I was so proud to be an American. I was taught that we live in the freest nation on Earth. The vibrations in the air in 1950's Chicago were thick with the Cold War. We were taught in our homes and classrooms that our freedom was always at risk.

Thanksgiving and Christmas have passed, and the great frenzy of shopping has ceased; now the New Year is closing in. People of all walks of life are pondering their New Year’s resolutions. One person asked me, “Isn’t New Year’s a perfect time to break an addiction?”

Christmas is upon us, a holiday shared amongst most Americans. And for the majority, it’s the most important holiday of the year (certainly for our children!) Christmas is a time of sharing, gift-giving, and bringing our families and communities together.

Every day over the past month, it seems another highly-respected male has fallen to the truth of their actions by taking inappropriate liberties; it also appears that many people are shocked that their leaders and heroes are involved in such activity. No doubt there are many more stories to come.

I am often asked, "What is consciousness?", and "How do I access a higher level of consciousness?" These are very big questions, and there are an infinite number of answers to such questions. One answer is to simply be aware of our surroundings.
